Description
Curves from straight lines? Absolutely. Typically done during a Family Math Night event, this fun project can also be done in the classroom. And although each participant is individually represented by one of the lines in the design, collectively their lines create the beautiful curves in the final product.
Not only will participants get to contribute to the Collaborative Project, but they will have the chance to create their own line designs using colored pencils. These line designs are theirs to take home and enjoy.
Included in the lesson plan:
-list of materials needed
-mathematical vocabulary
-mathematical background
-table tent with step-by-step directions
-Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced table tents
-sample line designs
-Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced line design activity sheets
-line design graph paper
