This FREE summarizing practice resource helps students strengthen reading comprehension by answering Who and What questions using short, focused passages. Designed for 4th and 5th grade, this sampler also works well for ESL learners, speech and language therapy, and special education students who need clear, structured support.

Students complete two summarizing worksheets and use a simple definition anchor chart to review how WH questions support understanding and summary skills. The passages are ideal for checking prior knowledge or reinforcing comprehension without adding prep time.
