Description
Easily teach multi digit multiplication this fall with self-checking pixel art! Students will love practicing 2 digit X 1 digit multiplication with fall pixel art activites! Students will enter numbers into the template for every step of the standard algorithm - as they do, the boxes will turn colors to give feedback, and a fall picture will appear. This resource is for practicing 2 digits x 1 digits. If you want 2 digits x 2 digit, click here!
How does it work?
There are 6 mystery reveals. Each mystery reveal has 4 questions on it. Each of the 6 activities is one Google Sheet. Upon opening the google sheet, there will be templated multiplication problems for the standard algorithm, for spaces for students to answer every digit of the problem. Students will type each digit into the box, and as they do, the box will change color, giving immediate feedback, and a cozy fall picture will appear pixel by pixel. These digital activities are self-checking, because if the kids enter the correct answer, the box changes color and the pixels appear.
Unlike other pixel arts, students cannot google the answers because they have to show each step of the algorithm. As an added scaffold, the boxes are color coded to show the different steps of multi digit multiplication.
What do you get?
You get a google drive folder that will be added automatically to your drive. The folder contains 6 google sheets and 6 answer keys. Each Google Sheet has42 multiplication problems, for a total of 24 templated questions.
Pumpkin (4 problems, 2 digit x 1 digit)
Truck with Pumpkins (4 problems, 2 digit x 1 digit)
Apple (4 problems, 2 digit x 1 digit)
Squirrel (4 problems, 2 digit x 1 digit)
Apple Cider (4 problems, 2 digit x 1 digit)
''Hello Fall" (4 problems, 2 digit x 1 digit)
This activity is compatible with google sheets and works with ANY device that is connected to the internet. It is easy to assign to your students, and even comes with a video tutorial for teachers that will show you how to assign and use it!
These activities are engaging, low prep, paperless, and FUN! They are easy to assign in google classroom. I tested it out on my fourth graders and they LOVED it!
How is it self checking? Well, students answer one question at a time, and as they do, the box changes color AND a mystery pixel art image is revealed, piece by piece. When the pixels appear, that's how students know they got it correct! If nothing happens, then students know to self-correct their answer.
Like the templates? These match exactly in style and color with my multiplication standard algorithm template packs! Check out the standard algorithm, or get a pack of all 3 algorithms (partial products, area model, and standard algorithm).

Standards Addressed:
4.NBT.B.5
Multiply a whole number of up to four digits by a one-digit whole number, and multiply two two-digit numbers, using strategies based on place value and the properties of operations. Illustrate and explain the calculation by using equations, rectangular arrays, and/or area models.
MA.4.4.D
Number and operations. The student applies mathematical process standards to develop and use strategies and methods for whole number computations and decimal sums and differences in order to solve problems with efficiency and accuracy. The student is expected to: use strategies and algorithms, including the standard algorithm, to multiply up to a four-digit number by a one-digit number and to multiply a two-digit number by a two-digit number. Strategies may include mental math, partial products, and the commutative, associative, and distributive properties;
