Keep it cool in school with this set of 24 elimination math riddles to practice adding three two-digit numbers!
Your students will determine the Secret Number by using a variety of clues to eliminate three options, choosing from the four possible answers on each card.
This set includes ...
- 24 riddle cards in color, printed with four cards on each page
- The same riddles in full-page format
- A student recording page and answer key, for independent use in a math center or just to make your teacher life a bit easier! :)
- A themed 120 chart to provide extra support as needed
- A worksheet format of the riddles, with six pages of riddles and an additional four pages for math and writing, with students writing to justify their answers. This multiple choice format is great practice for standardized tests!
Here are some options for using this set!
♦ Use in a math center for individual or partner work
♦ Use for whole class review with your document camera
♦ Use as a skills review rotation, with students moving to stations around the
classroom individually or with a partner to solve the riddles
♦ Use for morning “bell ringers”
♦ Use as enrichment or for early finishers
♦ Use the slides as morning work - engage your students right from the start
in fun and productive activities to prepare them for the day!
♦ The full page format provides a great way to introduce the cards, and to
model the critical thinking skills required to solve them, like identifying
key details, making inferences, and drawing conclusions.
♦ Project a full-page riddle to use for something new in daily number talks!
♦ Use the worksheets as classwork or homework. Cut them apart and use as
exit tickets. Perfect to add to your plans for a substitute teacher, and
ideal to send with students who have planned extended absences for
family vacations, etc.
