Description

I made this worksheet for some practice early on in our unit on generating Equations (or Function Rules, depending on what your textbook calls them) from number sequences.

Students get to choose which section of the worksheet they want to do for their assignment.

Section A has 12 sequences of moderate to easy difficulty.

Section B has 6 sequences but they may contain larger coefficients/constants, or be in different formats, or have decimals.

Section C has only 3 problems but one has decimals for the coefficient and constant, one is a table that has skipped some X values, and the other is in a graph with mostly negative points.

The file is in powerpoint format so you can feel free to change the directions or any of the questions. I've also included one version of the worksheet that asks for the answers in function notation and one that doesn't specify how the answers should be written.

Use variables to represent quantities in a real-world or mathematical problem, and construct simple equations and inequalities to solve problems by reasoning about the quantities.
Construct a function to model a linear relationship between two quantities. Determine the rate of change and initial value of the function from a description of a relationship or from two (𝘹, 𝘺) values, including reading these from a table or from a graph. Interpret the rate of change and initial value of a linear function in terms of the situation it models, and in terms of its graph or a table of values.
