Description
First Amendment Bundle Includes:
- First Amendment Quiz - This short, six question quiz is the perfect introduction to teaching the First Amendment. First, students read each statement and determine whether the action is protected under the First Amendment or not. Next, you will go over these answers and students will see how much they knew about the First Amendment prior to the lesson.
- The First Amendment Reading & Chart - This short reading and chart on the First Amendment are perfect to teach students about the five individual freedoms stated within this amendment. After, students will use the acronym RAPPS to identify each freedom within the First Amendment and explain how this amendment protects our individual freedoms.
- First Amendment Worksheet - This six question worksheet is the perfect assessment to use after discussing the First Amendment. There are five different “situations” that students need to read, identify which freedom within the First Amendment it deals with (religion, assembly, press, petition, or speech), and explain how the situation violates that freedom. The sixth question allows students to create and answer their own situation.
- First Amendment Supreme Court Cases - This packet is the perfect activity or assessment to use after discussing the role of the Supreme Court and the First Amendment. The students imagine that they are Supreme Court Justices and interpret two Supreme Court cases; Tinker v. Des Moines and Hazelwood School District v. Kuhlmeier. First, students read the facts of the case and the questions presented. Second, students examine the quotes from the Supreme Court Justices. Third, students answer the questions presented using their previous knowledge of the First Amendment and the job of the Supreme Court.
4 engaging and fun resources that work well together to teach students about the First Amendment. All resources require zero teacher preparation (student directions, worksheets, and answer keys are included)!

We used this as part of our constitution unit. It is unbiased and easy to use. It didn't require very much prep on my part.
These resources were very helpful in teaching my students about the five freedoms of the first amendment.
