A first-then board is a visual (and motivational) tool that is used to help students transition from one task to another. This visual tool is often used with students with ASD. "First" involves a less preferred task (e.g. academic task) and "Then" involves a preferred task (e.g. for successful competition of the 'less preferred' task.
