Don't begin the year lecturing or reviewing a syllabus! Instead, ask high school students to complete stations to keep them engaged. These are FIVE stations to help students learn about you as their teacher as well as you learn about your new students. One station asks students to review a Google Classroom, but you may adapt that station to review any app you use in your district. Stations are available in Google Apps, and all stations are editable so you can create stations that best fit your classroom and school culture.
