These practice sheets support reading fluency for various words. These words have the following "rules" : r-controlled, Long VCC, -le endings, Y as long e, y as long i, -ild, -ind, -old, -olt,-tch, -dge, open/closed, closed/closed, compound words, -ing, -ed, -es, CVCe, _ge /j/, _ce /s/, They can be used to supplement UFLI Foundations after lesson 50-80 and they follow the Science of Reading for your kindergarten, first grade, homeschool lesson or intervention group.
These sheets will give students the chance to have extra practice utilizing word families/spelling patterns to build fluency. Reading with these word pyramids builds confidence in reading sentences. The goal is to read these words fluently. The student should not be sounding out/tapping out each word to read it.
You may want a piece of paper to cover the lines below the line they are reading to avoid overwhelming the student.
Could be used for: Whole group/small group guided practice, independent practice, review for new lessons, and homework.
