Four Step Process Riddles
Share

Description

We are studying how to write a set of four step directions for completing a task or process. Here are some examples that students should read and then try to figure out what process is taking place. After the students have tried these out, then they should attempt to write their own set of four step directions. It can be modified by having them leave out what process they are trying to complete to have the reader make an inference, by taking away one step and seeing if the missing step can be discovered, or by continuing it or adding steps. This is also a lesson that can correlate with riddles because you are trying to figure out the process based on clues. You can tell the students to be very specific such as in the very easy example, or leave a little to the imagination like you would in a riddle for varying difficulty.
