Description

This Critical Thinking Game is a fun way to practice Second Grade Math skills.

This Second Grade math practice game is set up as a digital “Escape Room” where players solve a series of brain-challenging puzzles to get codes to unlock the next learning task. Once all five tasks are solved correctly, players win the game!

Our Secret Code games are played using Google Forms along with printable pages. Access to the digital escape game is easily shared on Google Classroom or QR Code and can be used with any device (iPad, tablet, computer, smartphone, or Chromebook).

Digital locks and printable tasks make this hands-on and self-checking!

Games can be played collaboratively or independently. If playing collaboratively, only 1 device is needed per group.

Five (5) math tasks combine into a critical thinking game that practices:

✔️ Key Task: Positive message maze

✔️ Task 1: Skip counting

✔️ Task 2: Place Value, Addition & subtraction

✔️ Task 3: Subtraction

✔️ Task 4: algebra

How to Play:

  1. Print the 5 critical thinking tasks, cut them apart, and place them in 4 envelopes labeled Task 1- Task 4.
  2. Players work individually or in small groups to solve the initial “Key Task.” Once solved correctly, the teacher gives players access to the digital locks (in Google Forms) and players can get “Task 1” from the envelope.
  3. Once players solve a task, they enter the code into the Google form. (Only a correct code will unlock the next task).
  4. After the final task is solved, players unlock a digital treasure chest signifying they won the game. Have kids screenshot or show you the final slide to prove they completed the game.
  5. This is an engaging and fun way to test prep or spiral review math skills.

Although the games can be played purely digitally, we highly recommend printing out the PDFs that accompany our digital locks. Give students the paper tasks to write on and problem-solve. This way students can put pencil to paper to solve these tasks to make even more brain connections.
