Description

A comprehensive ten week program. In this unit, the students will investigate transport. The students will identify and explore in-depth, different types of transport and will categorise them. They will compare and contrast various modes of transport throughout history and experiment creating unique modes of transport of the future. Students will investigate various transport problems such as how to transport cargo to and from different countries. They will examine why vehicles need wheels through using 3D objects to create carts. Students will learn how people should use public transport and safe public transport procedures. Students will reflect upon the various modes of transport that they have used throughout their lives. Students will take part in various experiments that will help understand the mechanics of hot air balloons and steam engines.
Students will have various opportunities to participate in visual arts experiences. Students will sketch motor cars and use recyclable materials to design a mode of transport for the air. Collaboratively, students will create a transport mural that will reflect the knowledge and concepts learnt throughout the unit of work.
