Description
In this activity students use their knowledge of function notation to evaluate functions and determine solutions. Students cut out all of the cards and then match each function card with its solution card. This card matching activity can be catered to the specific needs of your classroom! You could use as few as 20 cards (match 10 functions to their 10 solution cards) or all 40 cards (match 20 functions to their solutions). You can customize the answer key to your needs by highlighting only the cards/matches that students are supposed to complete for your class. This activity can be used in a variety of ways including as an in class pairs activity, interactive notebook page, or individual assessment of student understanding.
The 1st and 3rd pages of matching cards go together and consist of linear functions, quadratic functions, and cubic functions. The 2nd and 4th pages of matching cards go together and are piecewise functions, square root functions, and f(x+h) to challenge students and prepare them for their upper level math courses. You could make separate sets or use them as one big set of all 40 cards. The options are endless!
