Description
Practice multiplication skills using these multiples cards to play a game called "Garbage" - directions are listed below. There can be many different versions of this game, and whether you use this individually, in partners, as a center, or station, this game can provide well needed multiplication facts practice!
What's Included:
- Directions
- Multiple cards from 1-10 for each number 1-9. There are four copies of each set of cards, all labeled with the multiple for easy sorting.
Directions to print:
- Print on colored cardstock (so the numbers do not show through the paper)
- Laminate if desired to reuse in stations, partner work, and even free time multiplication practice.
- Cut the cards apart and keep multiples together in bags or containers. There are 4 of each card.
Directions to Play:
- Play with 1-2 people. Additional players may need extra copies of the cards.
- Shuffle the cards and deal 10 facedown in front of each player.
- Turn up the first card into the discard pile.
- First player can take the card from the discard pile or the draw pile and replace the corresponding card in the order of the multiples. For Example: a multiple of 5 card was drawn, 20, so the player must replace the fourth card in the set in front, discarding that replaced card.
- Player 2 can now take the card from the discard pile or draw a new card.
- If the card drawn is already turned up in front of the player, they must discard that card that was drawn and their turn is over.
- The winner is the first person to completely replace all their cards in the correct order of multiples – 1-10.
There are many variations to the game and I’d love to hear how you’re are using these cards in your classroom! Please send me a message at fortheloveofteachingandpi@gmail.com.
