Geometric Transformations Practice

This no-prep resource is a great way to get students to practice skills related to a geometric transformations! This resource contains a six-pages of practice with translations, reflections, and rotations, for a total of 36 practice problems. For each transformation, the first half of the problems, will require students to perform a given transformation, given a graph of the original figure or pre-image. For the second half of the problems, students are given a graph of the pre-image and image for a figure, and asked to determine the transformation that occurred. The problems are divided up by transformation: two pages for translation, two pages for reflections, and two pages for rotations so depending on your pacing you can have three days of practice from this one resource! This is a great way for students to practice a variety of skills including: graphing, working with translations, reflections, and rotation, finding the line of reflection, determining the angle of rotation, and identifying coordinate points, and could easily be used for in-class practice, homework, test prep, a quiz, or review!

All figures used are either triangles or quadrilaterals so students will only have to work with 3-4 vertex points on each problem. The resulting coordinates for each transformation performed will always work out to integers for ease of graphing. Translations will move a figure full units in one or two directions. Reflections require students to perform reflections across the y-axis and x-axis as well as the line y = x, but identify lines of reflection that also include other vertical and horizontal lines. Rotations are limited to counterclockwise rotations of 90, 180, or 270 degrees about the origin for both performing the rotation and identifying a rotation that occurred. A full answer key is also included for convenience.

I used this resources for additional practice on transformations with my students. I just wish the figures were labeled and coordinates for the original figure were already marked.
