Description

A real world math project designed for the outdoorsy students in your class. This project helps students practice basic 1-digit by 1-digit multiplication skills and basic 2-digit by 1-digit division without remainders.

In this project, students plan different aspects of their fishing excursion. They figure out how much a fishing license would cost for a group of friends, buy their fishing supplies, pack snacks for the trip, rent a boat by the hour, and then share their catch between their fishing buddies.

This project helps students practice basic 1-digit by 1-digit multiplication skills and basic 2-digit by 1-digit division without remainders.

I thought this was a very cute and creative assignment. In addition, it is great in terms of real-world application. Many of my students have gone fishing before and felt connected to this assignment. One thing I would change is the page that says, "Fishing Food." I had several kiddos ask me how much food they should bring. They weren't sure because the directions didn't specify how many friends he/she should bring. I told them they could decide how many friends to bring. My suggestion would be to either specify how many friends to bring or suggest how many friends to bring. By adding this, students would be more clear on directions. Thanks for a fun project!
