Description

Good at Math® is a 14 unit kindergarten math curriculum for classroom and homeschool learning environments. Each unit comes with detailed daily lesson plans, posters, teaching tools, anchor chart elements, games, center materials, independent practice, no prep printables, and bonus practice materials for additional skill exposure. The detailed lesson plans include a title, portable lesson goal, lesson materials list, warm up fluency practice, direct teaching, group practice that includes hands on and movement based skill practice, partner exploration, center activities, individual practice, and national kindergarten and first grade standard alignment. Good at Math® is a comprehensive curriculum designed by a veteran kindergarten teacher, tested, tweaked, and perfected through countless years of use and hundreds of students taught. The lessons and materials are designed using Universal Design for Learning to best meet the needs of a diverse student population.

Unit 5: Decomposing to 10 introduces the concept of adding and subtracting numbers within 10 using the framework of ____ and ___ make ____. They will learn how different combinations of numbers combine to make a larger number, how to solve using drawing and number and how to write a math sentence that corresponds ot the problem they are solving. Students will also learn how to find a missing addend in a math problem (introduction to subtraction), and how to solve beginning story problems. This unit does not introduce the symbols +, -, or = yet as this is a foundational unit that helps establish the concepts or addition and subtraction. Equation solving and writing will begin in Unit 7. Students will be provided with ample opportunities to practice and master these skills with robust, hands-on instruction, centers, and independent practice, as well as involving movement within their math block. Each lesson will provide spiral review of skills, allowing students to build upon what they've already learned, build mastery, and increase mathematical fluency. This unit contains 16 lessons (many spanning 2-4 days), and multiple additional center and individual practice activities to reinforce, extend, and support learning in multiple ways. This unit builds upon Good at Math® Unit 2 & 3 which introduce numbers, quantity, counting, and number writing pathways. Learners will need to have those skills prior to starting Unit 5.

With Good at Math® you can take the guesswork out of your math block and know that you are providing a developmentally appropriate and sequenced math program for your learners.

Great value
I don't like my provided math curriculum. I am a confident reading and science teacher, math not so much. I have bought many from TPT to save my math block but nothing was engaging, high standards, and hit all the topics I wanted to cover until Good at Math. I actually feel comfortable teaching Math now 4 years in..

Third purchase and it just keeps getting better! It makes learning math very fun and interesting for my 3.5yo. Even better, there’s not much work or teaching experience needed on my part.
