Three activities for EITHER Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides or Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Students will create a document, spreadsheet, and presentation about an animal shelter bake sale. Students will advertise the bake sale, calculate the sales in spreadsheet, and present the bake sales results in a spreadsheet.
These activities are for students who are already familiar with Microsoft Office and Google Apps, including creating charts and using spreadsheets.
Students are volunteers at the local pet shelter and have volunteered to create a Poster advertising for the upcoming Bake Sale to benefit dogs and cats. Using Word or Docs students will create a poster using shapes, text boxes, a special character, and Word Art. Students will then record the products sold at the Bake Sale using Excel or Sheets and create a spreadsheet which will include increasing decimals, calculating formulas and creating 3 different types of charts. Using PowerPoint or Slides students will create a presentation to display various data from the charts and insert text boxes.
Please Note: Students should already be familiar with spreadsheet calculations.
Technology Standards:
1.c Use technology to seek feedback that informs and improves their practice and to demonstrate their learning in a variety of ways.
4.b Students select and use digital tools to plan and manage a design process that considers design constraints and calculated risks.
5.b - Students collect data or identify relevant data sets, use digital tools to analyze them, and represent data in various ways to facilitate problem-solving and decision-making.
6.b Create original works or responsibly repurpose or remix digital resources in new creations.
6.c - Students communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively by creating or using a variety of digital objects such as visualizations, models or simulations.
