Description
Each Topic of enVision Math begins with an interactive learning component that encourages students to work together to investigate, explore and solve problems to help them math sense of math. The following document is a set of almost all of the "Pose a Problems" for Topics 1-16 (*excluding 10 & 15) and Topics 13 & 14 are selected lessons. These documents were made into student packets and distributed for each topic, so students can begin to solve or brainstorm independently at the start of a lesson (similar to a "Do Now"). Then, after providing students with 4-6 minutes of time to solve, we'd go over the problem together as a whole-group, sharing different thought processes and strategies. It's a great way to kick off the math lesson each day and encourage student-talk and math conversation. It's also beneficial in not only getting students to talk about math, but to write their thinking and EXPLAIN their answer using math vocabulary.
