Graphing piecewise functions can be confusing! Simplify the graphs of piecewise functions and make fun connections for students as you tell them the story of the Johnson, Larson, and Smith neighborhood (where properties are divided by fences) using this Graphing Piecewise Functions Note Guide and Presentation for Google Slides™️ LESSON BUNDLE! Challenge students to read the function rule and determine - "Which family owns the fence?" This story will remind students that individual properties (functions) in a neighborhood cannot overlap and that fences (boundary lines) will exist between each property. Students will then apply this story to creating a table that accurately represents each boundary line and the appropriate (x, y) values necessary for creating the graph of a given piecewise function. Students will be reminded to show who owns the "fence" as each function reaches the boundary line!
