Description

This 3rd & 4th grade Groundhog Day activity pack, with reading, writing, science, word search, and fun pages, is print-and-go! Engage your students for Groundhog Day with these no-prep differentiated nonfiction reading passages and activities, perfect for February learning.

Combine science and nonfiction learning with differentiated passages and activities that focus on:

  • Groundhogs
  • A groundhog's life cycle
  • Hibernation and burrows
  • History of Phil

Focus on nonfiction. The nonfiction passages include the following text features: headings, glossary, bold words, photograph, and caption. Comprehension activities and projects require students to use textual evidence and to engage in critical thinking.

Your students will love using their artistic abilities to create diagrams of a groundhog's life cycle and burrow.

Reflective writing, an opinion writing challenge, and probability activities are engaging ways to tie the holiday to age-appropriate skills.

Build classroom community and bring in SEL with the friendship writing activity.
