5 E's: Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, and Evaluate

Teacher Tips:

  • Engage: Students will play the role as a new educator for their local Farmer’s Market! In order to create a lesson for elementary students on potatoes, they (as the teachers) must learn a little about this important crop.
  • Explore: Students will read/analyze children stories, videos, and articles which discuss the importance and application of potatoes as a crop.
  • Explain: Students will present and create an educational brochure for the farmer's market.
  • Elaborate: Students will conduct two laboratories in order to elaborate the use of potatoes in past and current cultures.
  • Evaluate: After they have completed their research. Students will create a Screencastify video. Students will also complete a works cited page to provide credit to the websites that they used for their work.
