Description

Looking for a color-coded, easy to follow way to introduce or remediate understanding for solving one step equations? Do you also want pages for students to practice which follow the same format? Then this resource is for you!

This packet includes:

  • Introduction
    • blanks in place of variables as a way to introduce students to equations without the confusion of variables
  • Study guide
    • one problem per page (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division)
    • Each page has step-by-step instructions for solving equations, with each step in a different color.
    • Steps are also written in words.
  • Guided practice
    • an example on the left side (with colors to match the steps in the study guide)
    • written steps in the middle in corresponding colors
    • practice problem on the right side
    • 10 problems
  • Independent practice for solving one-step equations.
  • Students can easily see the steps while they work.
  • Answer key has color coded steps that match the rest of the packet. T

Ways to use:

  • Group work
  • Whole group
  • Pairs
  • To help parents understand the topic
  • To catch up students who were absent

There was a typo in the equations on the example for equations with addition and the example for equations with division.
