These interactive math notes are meant to supplement the HMH Into Math curriculum, for direct or guided instruction, after the “Build Understanding” and/or the “Step It Out” component within the curriculum.


RESOURCE MATERIALS
This resource includes:

  • module cover page (colored and black & white versions)
  • module table of contents
  • module key academic vocabulary word(s)
  • module interactive math notes
  • module interactive math notes answer keys (photo)


INTERACTIVE MATH NOTE COMPONENTS
Within each interactive math note page, the following components are included:

  • standards
  • module number
  • lesson name and number
  • date line
  • “I can” statement
  • Problem of the Day component
  • interactive math problems
  • Exit Ticket component


ADDITIONAL MATERIALS REQUIRED
Along with the interactive math notes, students will need the following materials:

  • pencil
  • notebook
  • scissors
  • glue stick
  • highlighter
  • coloring utensils (crayons, colored pencils, or markers)


Routines and strategies that have benefited my fourth grade students with the HMH Into Math curriculum and the supplemental interactive notebook pages are included as well.

Apply the area and perimeter formulas for rectangles in real world and mathematical problems. For example, find the width of a rectangular room given the area of the flooring and the length, by viewing the area formula as a multiplication equation with an unknown factor.
Solve multistep word problems posed with whole numbers and having whole-number answers using the four operations, including problems in which remainders must be interpreted. Represent these problems using equations with a letter standing for the unknown quantity. Assess the reasonableness of answers using mental computation and estimation strategies including rounding.
