Description
Engage your students with this collaborative writing project where students build their "How-To" writing skills in small groups or partners! Collaborative writing groups will go through the writing process of discussing, brainstorming, drafting, editing and revising to create a cohesive how-to writing booklet.
What's Included
Note-taking, Draft Writing and Final Project
Student groups are encouraged to discuss and take notes before writing. They can then use the draft writing forms to begin writing their own sections. After drafts are complete, students can help each other revise and edit before creating the final draft of the project.
Two Levels of Difficulty
LEVEL 1: Procedural Sentence Writing
Each student writes & illustrates one sentence
Includes:
-Notetaking page
-4 half page draft pages
-4 full page writing and illustration pages to form a final draft writing booklet
LEVEL 2: Procedural Writing
Each student writes & illustrates one page
Includes:
-Notetaking page
-4 full page draft pages
-4 full page writing and illustration pages to form a final draft writing booklet
Rules Poster
Clear expectations for collaborating ensures that time is spent effectively and everyone contributes in a constructive way.
Includes:
-Discussion Rules
-Jobs
-Respectful Language Prompts and Phrases
20+ Writing Prompts
Student groups can choose from this list of writing prompts OR use it to spark their own topic
