These stations give students practice with the key points of each of the following six organ systems: muscular, skeletal, digestive, nervous, circulatory, and respiratory. Below you will find information on why students benefit from stations and how to use the stations in your classroom.
Whenever students get up and move around the room they are more motivated, work harder, and can focus more on the material (especially during long block classes). Stations are a great alternative to worksheets while still accomplishing student practice with content. In addition, you save time and paper by not having to make hundreds of copies of a worksheet.
Here are directions for how you can use these stations in your classroom. Print the questions, cut them out, and post them around the room before class begins. Allow as much space as possible between the stations so students have plenty of room. Also tape up one or two answer sheets. Once class has begun, have a brief review of the human body and the organ systems (muscular, skeletal, digestive, nervous, circulatory, and respiratory). Begin the stations by giving students 25 minutes to work. Check student progress periodically to see if more or less time is needed. While students are working circulate the room and help where needed or have a table where students who need extra help can meet with you. When students are finished go over the answers together, focusing on the stations students had the most difficulty with.
