This bundle contains 3 different and engaging resources you can use with any nonfiction text to teach or supplement your classroom study of informational text, using the comprehension strategies of asking questions, determining importance, inferring, making connections, monitoring comprehension, predicting, summarizing, synthesizing, and visualizing, as well as text features, author's purpose, and point of view.
These resources can be used with any informational texts and help to deepen your students’ comprehension of nonfiction works. The activities complement each other, making them perfect for whole group discussions, guided reading activities, reading centers, paired activities, or individual activities.
This bundle contains:
• Informational Text Question Fans Using Bloom's Taxonomy- There are 6 different groups of questions and prompts (over 80 questions in total), for levels in Bloom’s Revised Taxonomy: Remember, Understand, Apply, Analyze, Evaluate, and Create. Each group of questions will make its own fan. You can use a particular fan when evaluating a particular level of the taxonomy, or use different fans as they suit different concepts or informational texts.
• Informational Text Concept Posters- This resource contains 9 different concept posters focusing on the comprehension strategies that can be used a a teaching tool for comprehending informational text, or as an assessment for learning (as a diagnostic activity to see what knowledge your students are bringing to a concept), assessment as learning (as a formative assessment during a unit or as a review before the end of a unit), or as assessment of learning (as a summative task at the end of a unit).
• Informational Text Cootie Catchers- This resource contains 8 different cootie catchers for studying nonfiction texts, including author’s purpose, point of view, summarizing and predicting, text features, comprehension strategies, and 3 with mixed questions These fun activities can be used for language centers, guided reading, or group or paired activity after independent reading.
