Description

Scaffolded Power Point Lessons with Step by Step Introductory lessons, Guided Practice, and Independent Practice, and Real World problem Solving at each level.

Levels 1 - 12 Adding and Subtracting Integers

20 to 40 minute scaffolded lessons breaks down learning into a manageable chunks which helps ensure struggling learners understand the related skills, concepts, and problem solving applications being taught. Each step by step lessons is followed by guided practice and independent practice problems. Most lessons are followed by application lessons where students read word problems and write equations to find the solution. Every few levels, review pages provide the needed practice and reinforcement needed to ensure learning transfers to long term memory.

Problem solving review task cards are also available on the website. Our task cards are designed to provide the independent practice and immediate reteach needed to ensure mastery.

These scaffolded lessons are great for whole class instruction, differentiated small group instruction, and distance learning / home schooling. Review pages make great bell ringers.

Find and position integers and other rational numbers on a horizontal or vertical number line diagram; find and position pairs of integers and other rational numbers on a coordinate plane.
Understand 𝘱 + 𝘲 as the number located a distance |𝘲| from 𝘱, in the positive or negative direction depending on whether 𝘲 is positive or negative. Show that a number and its opposite have a sum of 0 (are additive inverses). Interpret sums of rational numbers by describing real-world contexts.
Understand subtraction of rational numbers as adding the additive inverse, 𝘱 – 𝘲 = 𝘱 + (–𝘲). Show that the distance between two rational numbers on the number line is the absolute value of their difference, and apply this principle in real-world contexts.
