Interactive STEP ~ Problem Solving ~ Second Step
Share

Description

*This is just an idea! The spray painted blacktop to help children with problem solving on the playground!*

I teach the Second Step curriculum by Committee for Children to grades K - 5 at my elementary school. The teachers and I encourage students to use the word STEP whenever they need to problem solve. We have posters displayed and do lessons and role plays with students regularly. Using this method of problem solving takes lots of regular practice but works so well when done properly!

We have spray painted the word STEP onto the playground blacktop so students can have an interactive way to problem solve at recess. We have trained the playground guards on the process and certain student leaders are also available to help remind classmates of what STEP stands for and how to go through each letter/step correctly.

This freebie is just an idea for you! It works well for my school and I wanted to share. Please feel free to ask any questions.

Thank you!
