My at level physics students were able to use this lab to visualize waves a big. The pHet simulations are always good and the worksheet that went along with it was helpful.

Great resource but I really wish it was in an editable file, instead of PDF that way I can add to it or take away items so that it is customized to my personal class.

Great idea! When the PhET simulation was changed from a .jar file to an HTML5 link, I created the lab as a pdf file so that users would see the first page explaining how to access the simulation. I've added the student handout page as a word doc and made the product a zip file now. You can download it again to have access to the word doc :) Thanks for the suggestion!

NGSSMS-PS4-1
Use mathematical representations to describe a simple model for waves that includes how the amplitude of a wave is related to the energy in a wave. Emphasis is on describing waves with both qualitative and quantitative thinking. Assessment does not include electromagnetic waves and is limited to standard repeating waves.
NGSSMS-PS4-2
Develop and use a model to describe that waves are reflected, absorbed, or transmitted through various materials. Emphasis is on both light and mechanical waves. Examples of models could include drawings, simulations, and written descriptions. Assessment is limited to qualitative applications pertaining to light and mechanical waves.
NGSSHS-PS4-1
Use mathematical representations to support a claim regarding relationships among the frequency, wavelength, and speed of waves traveling in various media. Examples of data could include electromagnetic radiation traveling in a vacuum and glass, sound waves traveling through air and water, and seismic waves traveling through the earth. Assessment is limited to algebraic relationships and describing those relationships qualitatively.
