Description
This project is designed for students in Algebra II or Pre-Calc who have just learned or reviewed: Functions, graphs, domain/range, intercepts, and critical points.
This is a 2 day project in which students work in groups. Each group receives a function and one sentence explaining the real-world context of that function. They graph their given function using a graphing calculator or Desmos, and analyze the function. Once the function analysis is complete and satisfactory, students create a poster to display and explain their function.
What's Included?
- Project introduction slides (PDF and PowerPoint)
- In-class example (handout for students to follow along, Desmos link to the graph, and answer key)
- Analysis worksheet
- 10 unique and differentiated function cards (quadratic, cubic, and exponential + link to a Desmos page with all functions graphed).
- Group cards (to keep groups and their assigned functions organized).
- Teachers guide with explanation of project timeline, materials list, Desmos links, and project tips.
