Description

Introducing new concepts and skills in math can be completely overwhelming.

Where do you start? How do you break it down step by step for the students? How do you make it visual and concrete, so they have a strong understanding of the what and why behind the math?

The goal of Intro To Math is to give you a step by step guide as you introduce new skills. Students will be given opportunities to practice and model their new learning throughout the slides. Each slide will break down the skill in the simplest form, while aiming to show visuals that help build a strong mathematical foundation. My hope with Into To Math is to take some of the heavy lifting off your shoulders, so that you can use your energy to foster conversations and build a deeper understanding with your students.

What is in this product:

You will get a 36 slide powerpoint that walks through how to introduce how to multiply 2 digit by 1 digit, using partial product. The slides can be projected on the board or sent out on student devices.

Content included:

These slides will introduce how to multiply 2 digit by 1 digit, using partial product. It will start by having students identify patterns they see when multiplying groups of tens. Then students will use an area model and partial product to multiply two 1 digit numbers. You will then explore with the students how this changes when they multiply 2 digits numbers.

I love all of Kori's Intro to Math resources. Each one is great and I love how it breaks them down into easier to understand parts. I really appreciate how it involved students to showcase their learning along the way to by giving them time to practice the skills during the lesson. I upload them into Nearpod!
