Description
This set of 8th grade math (pre-algebra) binder notes provides guided notes for introducing students to systems of linear equations. The focus is to introduce students to the concept of having two linear equations on the same coordinate plane. By the end of the lesson, students will understand what the solution looks like on a graph and what it means to be a solution to a linear system, algebraically. Students will compare the graphs of a linear system that have one solution, no solution, or infinitely many solutions. Next, students will test coordinates to determine whether or not they are solutions. The front side consists of guided notes and the back side includes 12 practice problems that may supplement the lesson or be used as independent practice.
Note: This assignment is not intended to teach students how to solve using any method, but rather what it means to be a solution to a linear system.
This lesson is included in the following bundles:
ā 8th Grade Math Pre-Algebra Binder Notes (Unit 5: Linear Systems)
ā 8th Grade Math Pre-Algebra Binder Notes (Full Year Bundle)
