🤔 What Is an "I CAN" Math Game?

It's literally a "can" filled with a wide variety of standards-based questions, now in both printable and digital form! These games are different because the questions expose students to the standard in multiple ways, so they're never answering the same question over and over. Every question comes in multiple-choice and short-answer format, with and without QR codes, and the digital versions deliver immediate feedback as students play.

📦 WHAT'S INCLUDED:

🖨️ PRINTABLE Version

  • 40 practice questions, each in TWO formats (multiple-choice AND short-answer)
  • 2 different can-cover sizes, with student directions
  • A guide on how to assemble the game
  • A guide on how to use the product
  • Progress monitoring checklist
  • Student answer recording sheet
  • Answer keys
  • Optional QR codes for self-checking

💻 DIGITAL Version (works with ANY device!)

  • 40 multiple-choice questions in THREE formats:
    • PowerPoint – interactive slides with immediate feedback
    • Google Slides – interactive slides with immediate feedback
    • Google Forms – automatically grades and collects data
  • A "Getting Started" guide that walks you through how to use the game
  • Optional printable sheets:
    • Progress checklist (for students to track progress on this skill)
    • Workspace sheet (for students to show their work)
    • Answer recording sheet
    • Answer key (answers are built into the game, but a printable key is included if you prefer)

The digital game works on ANY device: tablets, desktop computers, laptops, Chromebooks, and smartphones (Apple, Windows, etc.). As long as you have PowerPoint or Google Slides (free apps available). Perfect for Google Classroom!

📋 How to Use This Resource

As a Group Game: Place this "I Can" game at a math center. In groups of 2 or more, students compete to collect the most cards by answering questions correctly. If a player misses, another can steal the card. Pull an "I Can" card? Add it to your pile as a bonus and draw again! (Answer keys included!)

As Independent Practice: Students pull a card, solve it, and record answers on the "My Answers" sheet, then self-check with the answer key. Offering a reward for completing the set or mastering a target percentage keeps motivation high.

As a Progress Monitoring Tool: Have students track their work on the included checklist as they complete the activity independently. Use it to see whether the focus skill has been mastered and to pinpoint where further instruction is needed.
