These small group math units were designed to help your little mathematicians gain a deeper understanding of mathematics during your small group guided math time. This module focuses on Data Collection.

This unit is part of a year-long small group math bundle that covers all of the math standards for kindergarten.

For these units, we used the CPA approach which was developed by Jerome Bruner.

Research has shown that it is a highly effective approach to teaching that develops a deep and sustainable understanding of math. Using the CPA method (Concrete, Pictorial, Abstract) students are given the opportunity to experiment with mathematics in a variety of ways. We used this method as we developed the lessons in this unit.

Each lesson follows an intentional format:

Math Fluency Warm-Up

★Detailed Mini-lesson

★Hands-on Activity

★Math Journal Activities to practice the skill

Each lesson will provide the students with opportunities practice measurement.
