▶Write-In Word Decoding Worksheets -- Skills Include: Short Vowel Sounds (Individual & Mixed); Digraphs (Individual & Mixed)
▶Word Decoding Answer Key Sheets: All sheets included
Resource Directions:
Word Decoding Book Covers: Choose which cover, if any you would like to use for your student's word decoding booklets. Covers include a colored & black & white version of two types of covers. If you choose to use worksheets in centers or as assessments you many not want a cover, but this option is available if needed.
Bubble-In Word Decoding Worksheets: These worksheets can be used as a practice or assessment of reading skills that have been taught. Children sound out the four words next to the picture and shade in the bubble next to the word that best describes the picture.
Write-In Word Decoding Worksheets: These worksheets can be used as a practice or assessment of reading skills that have been taught. Children say the name of the picture and then write the letter sounds they hear in the boxes provided below each picture.
Word Decoding Answer Key Sheets: Answer Keys are provided for each word decoding sheet in the resource. If children are doing worksheets in a center you can provide these answer keys so students can do their own self-correcting.
Other Word Decoding Suggestions:
Test Preparations: I prepared these worksheets for my students to practice their word decoding skills and as a practice for their big end of the year reading test.
Center Time Activity: You can copy the sheets back to back for easier use. The sheets get progressing harder so be aware of what you are copying making sure you have already taught that sound or combinations of sounds. You could also have the answer key at the center so students could check their own work.
Assessment Check: Use them as an assessment to check if your students know a certain sound or combination of sounds. I have found the bubble-in worksheets were a lot easier for students so you could do a combination of both when doing your assessments.
Word Decoding Practice Booklets: Make a practice booklet for students. I did this before our big end of the year reading test so they were familiar with what they were expected to do.
Use these easy prep word decoding worksheets for center activities, assessments or as a word decoding practice booklet!
