Description

This year with COVID CRAZINESS I am trying to find anything I can to keep my students engaged since they are unfortunately stuck at their desks for 4 hours. LEGOS have been AMAZING for this! I just introduced the concept of 2 parts making a whole and math stories to my Firsties. I let them build with LEGOS for each story we read in order to break up the lesson. Once they have finished building with their 2 parts we talk about how their creation represents the WHOLE. Students then get invited to our LEGO Museum where they can walk around wearing their masks to check out each creation. I wanted to make this a math center since they enjoy it so much. This center can be used digitally for remote learners (since most students will have some LEGOS) or in the classroom if you have LEGOS available for each student. You can also force a copy for each student to use OR allow all students to edit the master copy so they can share their pictures. Students simply take the two parts and put them together to build a LEGO creation. Then they can upload a picture to the presentation and add the numbers to find the whole.
