Description

Can your students be senior language detectives? Use your language skills to detect the information and answer the questions. A brand new game and theme for your room! Our students often need to be detectives because all of the information isn't always readily available. Here is the perfect opportunity to work on these "detecting" skills. This is how it works: Print cards and laminate them. There are 4 card decks: inferences, predicting, cause/effect, and riddles. Each card deck can be differentiated by the border color. Also included is a page (8 cards) of wild cards, which may be duplicated (2-3 copies of the page) if using more than one deck at a time. Have students take turns selecting a card. They must be the "detectives" and answer the questions given on each card. If they do it correctly, they can keep their card. If not, they must put the card back in the pile. Make sure to not lose your detective gear, because you will also lose a turn! If you follow all of your
clues, you will get another turn! These wild cards
may be used for more fun. The person with the most cards at the end of the game is the Senior Language Detective (winner)!

Included in this download:

* Directions
* 32 inference cards (with an additional 8 blank inference cards for your own examples)
* 48 cause/effect cards (with an additional 8 blank cards for your own examples)
* 40 riddle cards (with an additional 8 blank cards for your own examples)
* 32 predicting cards (with an additional 8 blank cards for your own examples)
* 8 wild cards

Enjoy this creative new way to target these critical thinking/problem solving skills!

My students liked figuring out the riddles. Engaging and able to be used with students with articulation goals as well as language goals. I have also used the inference cards as well. A great resource!

Good resource for mixed language groups. Works well with online learning - I can open it in an extension such as Kami and write in the answers as we work on each question or just share my screen and practice answering the questions. The questions are original and appropriate.

This can be used in person or in distance learning to read the questions. It was engaging and had lots of different targets to work on with my students.
