Reading Comprehension Package

This resource includes 45 reading and comprehension resources and activities to help parents homeschool their children or for teachers to assign as learn-from-home tasks. Answers are provided where possible (there are times where answers are not available due to the subjective nature of the questions).

I have selected a collection of my reading resources that children can complete at home as they are no-prep, minimal assistance, independent tasks. This reading pack can be sent home with children or emailed to parents digitally to allow students to continue learning from home.

Contents:

General Text Reading Response Chart

• Can be used with any book. Students read a book and then choose one of the reading responses on the chart to complete.

5x Comprehension Worksheets

• Students read the passages and then answer the questions using full sentences in their books.

5x Reading Strategy Comprehension Worksheets

• Students read the passages and then answer the questions, which include various reading strategies.

2x Summarising (Summarizing) Worksheets

• Students read the passages and then complete the summarizing (summarising) activities.

2x Making Connections Worksheets

• Students read the passages and then make text-to-text, text-to-self, and text-to-world connections.

4x Visualising (Visualizing) Worksheets

• Students read the passages and then draw a picture to match the text.

2x Making Inferences Worksheets

• Students read the passages and then answer the questions by making inferences about the text.

2x Predicting Worksheets

• Students read the passages and then answer the questions about predicting.

2x Information Report Comprehension Worksheets

• Students read the information reports and then answer the comprehension questions.

Target Audience Worksheet

• To be used with any book. Students read a book and complete the questions to determine the target audience.

Fact or Opinion Worksheet

• Students read the sentences and determine whether they are fact or opinion. Students then write two facts and two opinions of their own.

Literal Information Worksheet

• Students answer the questions about literal information.

Implied Information Worksheet

• Students answer the questions about implied information.

Graphic Organiser (Organizer) Package

• Includes compare and contrast, predicting, cause and effect, summarising (summarizing), making connections, inferring, questioning the text, visualising (visualizing), and fact or opinion. Students read any book and complete the templates.
