The guided notes for this lesson combine two Eureka lessons, 3 and 5. They include practice problems, scaffolding to Eureka content, key definitions, summary and conclusion questions. This is adapted from Eureka Grade 7 Module 2 Lesson 3 Topic A and Lesson 5 Topic A. This lesson focuses on understanding addition and subtraction rules so students can predict whether the sum will be positive or negative. It further applies the integer card game so it is important that students have done lesson 1 and 2 as a foundation. There is a sorting activity that pairs with this lesson available as a free resource.

This is part of a lesson that follows the scope and sequence for a Math Essentials Curriculum. This is a remedial course designed to prepare students for Algebra 1 that includes Eureka Lessons from 6th, 7th and 8th grade. Each lesson has a PowerPoint, Guided Notes sheet and Exit Ticket which will be included as a part of a bundle. If any manipulatives are used in the lesson, they will be available as well. The mad minutes referenced in the powerpoint are available as part of a bundled document.
