Description

With this Mathematics web quest/unit/project, students experience what it is like to live on their own as single adults. This project challenges them to research a career, rent an apartment, purchase a vehicle, shop for food, etc.- all calculated to fit within their monthly budget, 10 activities in all. It can be used to compliment your current curriculum by showing how operations of decimals and fractions, simple interest, and percent of a number apply to real life or a quarter-length intensive stand alone unit. I have also included culminating activities that require a letter to be written and a presentation to be given. Various activities from this unit are also available for purchase in my store as stand alone supplements to lessons.

For example, recognize an incorrect result 2/5 + 1/2 = 3/7, by observing that 3/7 < 1/2.
