Description
Teach students to write structured, coherent body paragraphs and text dependent responses. Save with this complete bundle that includes all our MEAL paragraph resources in both print and digital formats. This bundle is perfect for distance learning or blended classrooms!
The MEAL model is explained with a four course meal on a dinner plate, helping students to visualize each component of a good paragraph. This paragraph writing strategy is suitable for ANY subject.
In the guided writing lesson, students will deconstruct an example paragraph to identify each component of MEAL before constructing their own MEAL paragraph.
Then, students will pre-write in a scaffolded graphic organizer, draft a MEAL paragraph, and self assess their work. Teachers can upload the included rubric to Google Classroom for simplified assessment online, or use the printable rubric to provide handwritten feedback.
The printable classroom posters include visuals, guiding questions, and sentence starters to scaffold writing instruction. These anchor charts are ready to print, display, and reference during writing practice in any content area.
Included:
- Google Slides Presentation with MEAL Paragraph visual
- An explanation of each step in MEAL paragraph writing
- A sample MEAL paragraph for modeling
- A printable graphic organizer for pre-writing
- Exit ticket for formative assessment
- Print and digital rubrics for assessment
- Digital graphic organizer and student response sheets
- Five printable writing anchor charts
- Learning targets tied to CCSS
