Description
This lesson plan for Mac and Cheese by Sarah Weeks, has the following components:
- in depth instructions (both a colored quick key point lesson plan, scripted and EZ print lesson plan, and ready to use materials!)
- vocab
- phonemic connection (phoneme+grapheme+morphology working together / antonym and synonym)
- Independent and whole group reading
- scaffolding (making inference)
- comprehension activity
- writing response worksheet
- book wrap up
- bonus activities
Once students become more or less proficient with basic word families and sounds (CVC, blends, vowel teams, etc.), I use quality stories (fiction and non-fiction early readers, picturebooks, chapter books) to help them engage with literacy. All sections, of course, can be used independently of one another or all together. If all components are used the lesson will be approximately 45-60 minutes. These lesson plans are designed for small groups, but could easily be adapted for a classroom literacy block.
