Description
This project was created for my fifth grade class as an end of the unit project for a real-world application of adding fractions.
In this project, students demonstrate their knowledge of:
-Adding Whole Numbers
-Adding Fractions
-Adding Mixed Numbers
I brought in some cookbooks to get my class excited about the project, and a few of them borrowed cookbooks from the school’s library. Students had exactly two weeks to complete the project.
Be careful of students who decide to “create their own” recipes. I’ve found that they make up very easy fractions, such as 1/9 of a cup, so that adding is easier.
Use it as a math center, or use it as a home project.
This project includes:
-Project Assignment
-Project Rubric
Math Adding Fractions and Mixed Numbers Project or Center (Rubric Included)
