Description

Let’s do some Geometry for Valentine’s Day! Your students will enjoy using pattern blocks while learning geometric vocabulary, and, developing reasoning and spatial skills! These 12 engaging pattern block printable task cards will make a sweet addition to your math centers or early finisher station around the holiday!

Your Students Will be developing a conceptual understanding of basic two-dimensional geometric shapes. A conceptual understanding leads to a greater depth of knowledge and understanding.

I love that this is more than just a pattern block mat. My students were so excited to challenge themselves with writing the numerals to represent the numbers of each shape they used and to design their own. They all cheered the first time they watched me model filling in the template with pattern blocks. It was a great self-directed activity.

When counting objects, say the number names in the standard order, pairing each object with one and only one number name and each number name with one and only one object.
Count to answer “how many?” questions about as many as 20 things arranged in a line, a rectangular array, or a circle, or as many as 10 things in a scattered configuration; given a number from 1-20, count out that many objects.
