Description
In this Math Performance Task, students will solve real world problems using their knowledge of decimals. The performance task covers Common Core Standard CCCS.5.NBT.B.7 and Mathematical Practice Standards 1, 2 and 3.
Do your students need practice with challenging, multi-step, real world problems? If yes, then this performance task is for you! This Math Performance Task includes the following four sections:
Section 1:
The performance task starts out with a word problem with several parts to complete. Students will analyze and critique another student’s answer.
Section 2:
Extends the real-life problem and digs deeper.
Section 3:
Students will apply knowledge to solve a more complicated task.
Section 4
Students should spend time in discussion with a partner, or small group, and then reflect on the journal page.
Rubrics are provided for each section of the task. The total performance task is worth 31 points.
