Description

Are you in need of an engaging, no-prep, daily activity that will help your students become experts at math problem solving? This resource can be used as morning work or during Math in your classroom to build and enforce critical math problem solving skills. Check out this Common Core aligned math problem solving product that takes students step by step through the problem solving process.

We've used this resource in our classroom as daily work and the students' math problem solving skills always grow by leaps and bounds! On Monday the students are introduced to a weekly math word problem and then they go through a different part of the problem solving process each day.

Day 1: Analyze and Solve- Students read the problem and use the CUBES strategy to analyze it and pick out the important information. Students then use that information to solve.

Day 2: Partner up- Students check their answer and discuss their problem solving strategy with a partner.

Day 3: Explain- Students write a written explanation of how they solved the problem.

Day 4: Create- Students use the original problem as a model to create their own similar problem.

Day 5: Switch and Solve- Another student solves the problem created the day before.

The only thing that could make this any better is if it had the Volume, Week and Day printed somewhere in the sheets. Can get confusing when your dealing with more than one week at a time. It is a wonderful product that I intend to use forever.
