I used this resource to help my students develop measurement skills for science investigations. While doing a science experiment with 5th & 6th graders it was revealed they did not know how to claculate averages. Using as a morning warmup,

The activity was engaging to students. However they felt frustration that some numbers on the code were not matched with the answers given. In other words, some of the letters did not have the correct numbers.

My students had so much fun trying to figure out the riddle. They have a better understanding of averaging and had a laugh once they figure out the riddle.
