Description

At the completion of each math unit assessment, my teammates and I have our kids complete this test reflection form. You will notice that the skills listed for the kids to recognize are test taking strategies and NOT math related. This has been done for two reasons: First, you can reuse this test reflection throughout the whole year. No need to introduce new reflection forms. Your kids will become comfortable with these the more you do them. Second, oftentimes our students have shown us they CAN do the skills but they don't always show us on assessments. Sometimes this is simply because we lack test taking strategies. This reflection form helps us talk test taking skills and help our kids become more self aware.

We have students return these forms with a parent signature and we actually save them. We pull them out right before kids take a new assessment and we have them read their goal to themselves. It really motivates kids and helps them remember what test taking strategy they can improve on.

I hope this brings rich conversations and reflection to your classrooms. Please enjoy!
