What student doesn’t benefit from extra multiplication practice? These games are fun and deceptively challenging at the same time. One student said, “This doesn’t feel like school, it’s like we just had fun ll day.”
When my students play these tile games, I see them excitedly digging in to challenges. Students must use critical thinking skills to use math tiles 0-9 exactly once. This makes the game self-correcting and spurs great math discussions about why a tile can only work in one place. Occasionally there will be a Commutative Property discussion, “Is the correct answer 5 x 6 or 6 x 5?” In some cases, they’re both correct, but not if one says, ‘rows’ and the other says ‘columns!’
This set features four Math Tile games: Multiplication Arrays (Americana Post-Cards); Missing Factors (Animals); Multiples of 10 (Aesop) and Function Machine Multiplication (input/output).
